Inspector on construction siteFire Safety Surveys

Fire safety surveys are used to identify fire safety hazards in a business, institution or work place. Surveys differ from fire safety inspections in that the results of a survey can be used to identify potential problems as a proactive measure. This allows you to take corrective actions prior to an inspection by a government regulator or authority having jurisdiction (AHJ).

Fire Safety Evaluation Systems (FSES)

FSES's are an alternative approach to life safety, as detailed in NFPA 101A, for health care and adult foster care facilities.

Fire Inspections

Art Shaw is listed by the Michigan Department of Human Services (DHS) as an Approved Independent Qualified Fire Inspector for child care centers, child caring institutions, and camps.

Bid Analysis - Fire Alarms and Suppression Systems

When you take bids for fire alarms and suppression systems, making sense of them can be a confusing and daunting task. A general statement in a bid document about providing a code-compliant system does not always take on the same meaning in a competitive world.

A. Shaw & Associates can analyze the bids you receive and arrange the information into an easy-to-understand format, which aids you in the decision about which company to hire for your project.

Fire and Life Safety Training

A. Shaw & Associates provides employee training programs that are tailored to the needs of your business or work place. Using PowerPoint presentations with photos of real situations (when possible), we help your staff relate fire safety to their everyday work environment.

Such is the case for the nursing home industry, where new regulations and two fatal fires in Michigan nursing homes have shown a need for additional training beyond what is typically available in house.
